HOMEPAGE FEATURES – Historical Purposes [Updated]

This page started for historical convenience and reuse. Created on 11/10/25. Because the homepage Featured Article section sometimes has a collection or curated list, I thought it would be good to preserve the releases perhaps to reuse or to augment later.

The Roach. Or, Who Are We?

With the new Frankenstein 2025 released on Netflix, it’s a great time to reflect on the human condition. Thus, The Roach and The Naked Brain. But, there’s more here to get started.

Why did Zegarelli choose the roach, and not something more obviously “positive” like the bee? The choice of the roach is not incidental. It’s deliberate, philosophical, and pedagogical. The Roach is Nature’s Scorned Child. Whereas the bee is socially beloved—associated with sweetness, industriousness, even holiness—the roach is: reviled, feared, associated with filth and decay, and a symbol of human disgust, not admiration. That’s the point. Zegarelli’s use of the roach is an inversion test for the reader. Where the bee flatters human preferences, the roach survives what humanity discards—and does so without our approval. This is not merely counterintuitive. It’s moral pedagogy in the Zegarelli style.  [AI Conversation]

FEATURED ARTICLE: It’s Halloween Time, Again. The Great Masquerade.

The Great Masquerade.

The best thing I have ever written or will ever write:

“The Truth is a jokester, or a liar. For, each time, he comes to me in the exact appearance of my desire. I later discover that he wore a mask. The Truth laughs at me, and I am his fool.”

“Horror upon an individual is not meted by relativity.”

“Separating the fool from the sage, with a never-ending mock, with each second of the clock, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick tock.”

“To the child, a shadow is just a shadow, but, to the philosopher, the Shadow is a horror—perhaps the scariest of all villains.”

FEATURED ARTICLE: This is Part III of a 3-Part Article on Hate Speech v. Bad Speech v. Free Speech. This last Part III is a conversation with ChatGPT on this important subject.

The impetus for Part I was the Harrison Butker comments, Part II was a response to a reader inquiry on monitoring post threads. This Part III follows up on Part II and addresses issues like “passionate contradiction” and how to manage the rhetoric of “hate speech” against a group, when the attribute of the group is attacked, but the group is bound by that attribute. AI Six Degree

FEATURED ARTICLE: Six Degrees of Unity: From Testing AI for Hiring Questions to AI’s Vote for President Over Jordan Peterson, Thomas Jefferson and Baruch Spinoza.

I asked AI a couple of simple questions about hiring myself that led to a presidential campaign, with AI providing a presidential platform. Better yet for this intellectual frolic of curiosity, AI voted for me for US President over the Statesman Thomas Jefferson, the Philosopher Baruch Spinoza, and the great Thought-Leader Jordan Peterson. I don’t suggest or admit for AI that anything AI said or concluded is true or adopted by me. But it is interesting to see how a conversation with AI goes from the standard data aggregation to the insightful, philosophical and deductively thoughtful.

Here is the AI thread “conversation.” The text is verbatim, with AI adding the smiley faces, bolding, etc. AI’s initial response was the standard data aggregation of published professional profiles. It started to get good when I asked AI to form some conclusions “about the human being,” based upon AI’s deep dive of available materials.
